Crossroads Prison Ministries South Africa

Cultivating Christ-centered relationships between those inside and outside prison walls

CROSSROADS PRISON MINISTRIES is active in 28 countries worldwide, bringing hope to people in prison through Bible study courses.

We use volunteer mentors from churches nationwide to anonymously guide the students in their Bible studies. Students receive an encouraging letter from the mentors with each reviewed lesson.

The head office in South Africa is located in Pretoria. In addition, there are two other satellite campuses: Krugersdorp and Cape Town (See map below). We are planning to roll out another satellite campus in Centurion soon.

At each of these campuses there are mission workers who visit prisons weekly and deliver a short devotional service. New and completed lessons are then exchanged. We serve an additional number of prisons through the post.

Crossroads South Africa has seen significant growth since the ministry began in 2011— a testimony to God’s faithfulness.

Crossroads Prison Ministries was founded in the United States of America in 1984 as a small regional ministry. Over the years, it grew into a nationwide ministry and then expanded globally, now serving twenty-eight countries.

Since the start of Crossroads South Africa in 2011, the Lord has created a far-reaching impact on the country’s prison population through this ministry.

Currently, in South Africa, the program is administered by a few full-time personnel as well as volunteers in the head office. We have close to a 1000 students, almost 200 mentors and we serve at more than 20 prisons nationwide.

“Surely I have learned so much! It has opened a new dimension in my study of the Bible and the impact on my personal life. For the first time, I understand God’s mighty grace and His plan of salvation and sharing in Christ’s victory.”
