What does a CPM Mentor do?
Mentors attend a once-off training session either at the office or at your local church. Each person receives a training manual, and you are equipped with the answer keys and everything else you may need.
Once a week (except otherwise stated) each mentor receives a lesson to be reviewed and write an encouraging letter to the student. The lesson is then sent back to the office for return to the student.
As a mentor your privacy is important to us and therefore all correspondence between you and the student is done anonymously.
Requirements
- Each mentor needs to be an active member of a church.
- You need to accept and endorse our Statement of Faith.
- You will need a reference from your pastor or church elder.
WANT TO HELP OUT IN ANOTHER WAY?
Spiritual care worker / Missionary
Each prison is visited by a spiritual care worker on a weekly basis. The ideal person for this task must be very enthusiastic and must meet certain requirements as set out by Crossroads Prison Ministries. This person will also need to accept and endorse our Statement of Faith.
Courier
From time to time we need extra help in the form of couriers to collect and deliver lessons – either to prisons we do not physically visit or collect lessons from the office and distribute the lessons at church where mentors can pick it up.
Office volunteer
As you can imagine, the task of administering all the lessons as they come in and go out of the office is enormous. Each campus must prepare statistical reports on a monthly basis as well. Here the help of office volunteers that comes in for an hour or two a week is very valuable. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have some time available!
